Managing teacher profiles in Optserv OptClass — profiles, schedule assignments, and plan limits.

Teachers are the instructors in your OptClass workspace. They are managed by staff through the /school interface.

Creating a teacher profile

Staff can create a teacher profile with:

  • Full name and contact information
  • Specialization or subject area (optional)
  • Availability (used for schedule building)
  • Assigned groups or 1:1 sessions

The free teacher cap (15) aligns with the free employee cap. This is intentional — teachers are staff-level users in Optserv's backend model.

Teachers vs staff roles

Teachers in OptClass are not the same as staff with the Manager or Employee role. A teacher profile in OptClass is specifically for managing who teaches which classes — it's a scheduling and tracking entity, not an access control role.

A staff member (e.g., an Admin or Employee) can also be a teacher if your company uses staff as instructors.

Assigning teachers to schedules

Once created, teachers are assigned to:

  • Group sessions — teaching a class to multiple students on a recurring schedule
  • 1:1 sessions — individual sessions with a single student

Assignments are managed in the Schedules module.

Managing teacher workload

From the OptClass workspace, staff can view:

  • Which students a teacher is assigned to
  • Their upcoming and completed sessions
  • Their session delivery history

This helps identify overloaded or underutilized teachers and rebalance accordingly.
